My daughters and I went to San Diego last weekend with my girlfriend and her daughter. We were staying in Mission Beach, it was a great little getaway!!
Above are some photos from a Luau we attended. Loved this funny guy!! I have mentioned that one of my best friends is Hawaiian and it just happened that she was in Maui when I was in San Diego. It so happens that the hotel that we were staying at holds a luau every weekend so we took the girls. What a fun experience!! The funny thing was that I was texting photos of the luau in San Diego to my girlfriend who was visiting in Maui. It is so wild how technically connected we are these days.
The picture above is of one of my favorite cars. The favoritism comes from the experiences that I have had from owning one. My husband had one when we first got married. He actually totally restored the one that he owned. He loved that car until one day his car got creamed by another car. Those babies are like little tanks! The car was totaled and he walked away with no injuries except a sore back.
The photos below are of my daughter and my friend's daughter, Calli.
The girls wanted me to take pictures of them flying through the air.......................Calli is quite the gymnast and was showing the girls some moves. Although the girls can sometimes display my lack of grace and were flying around like rag dolls. Oh, to be young again, and to not tear your ACL or throw your back out when you fall down. It all looked like pain to me.
The grounds of the hotel were beautiful there were lots of beautiful animals on the grounds. I had not seen a black swan before...............
Above Sophie is pretending that she is twins with the duck..........the bottom one is her pretending that she was a stick. Ha ha....
Why is it so much fun to get away?? Even if it is only an hour away. There is no laundry, emails, grocery shopping or food to cook. I sure do miss my flight attendant days! What I would give for a good four day trip now and then.
Its the adventure of discovering something new or tasting something different or watching people on how they behave or dress. Life is such a collection of experiences and what better way to add to your life but to explore.........
The tall building is where we stayed it was not fancy but the view was amazing and it was walking distance to Mission beach which was right across the street. The pictures below of the bay were taken from our balcony.
Meanwhile my fourteen year old son was having his own adventure. He flew for the first time by himself to Michigan to surprise my parents. I had my aunts pick him up at the airport and deliver him to my parents. Which just about gave them a heart attack. The boy defiantly has our adventurous spirit about him. I snapped a photo of him before he left for the airport at 4AM. Like Dr Seuss said, "Oh, the places you will go............................".
He had just returned home from a mission trip to Texas with his youth group. Bailey helped convert a standard bathroom to one that would accommodate a wheel chair for a family in a small rural town East of Houston.
I could have rang his neck, he sent me a text just after he had gotten onto the plane," Mom, Mom MOM!!! OMG!! " I did not read the text until after his plane had already taken off, so I could not get a hold of him. I about had a heart attack myself. I had to keep myself calm and watched the news to make sure there wasn't anything crazy going on. When he arrived in PHX for his connection he finally called me to tell me that he was just going to tell me that, Air Force One was across the runway from his plane and that his flight had been delayed for take off because of it. I told him never to send me a message like that again unless it was his last one. Augh!!! Oh, the places you will go!
