The cold followed us home

 

This is the view from our backyard.  Look at those snow covered mountains.  We don't typically see this much snow from here in Southern California.  I only live about six miles from the beach so this is a very beautiful surprise.  Although it shouldn't be a surprise, since it has been so cold it feels like it should be actually snowing outside here.  

I took a quick trip to the gem show yesterday and found some colorful beauties.  After returning home from Mexico, I am suddenly in love with lots of color.  Luckily for me, I also found a girl at the show who had some vintage French bone and wood treasures.

 There is something about the cold that makes you want to dig in a be creative.  I love it!!

Having fun In Mexico, last week!

To this, driving up the mountain to Lake Tahoe on Friday!  Let's just say that was the longest nine and half hours of my life. We got hammered right out side of LA with rain  that lasted all the way past Sacramento and then it turned into lots of  snow.  I have forgotten what it is like to drive in bad weather.  My girlfriend was laughing at me so hard as I was trying to drive around town.  I was going about five miles an hour and panicking the whole time.  When we left the resort it was if I had my gas peddle punched down but I actually had my brake on and we just cruised right down the hill.  A reminder of why I moved to Southern California years ago.

It was so exciting to witness the beauty of the religion in Mexico.  It was just breathtaking in person.

Knock Knock

I found myself fascinated by the very old hand knockers  that rested on the large wooden doors in Queretaro and San Miguel de Allende.  Imagine  walking down the old cobble stone streets that were lined by these incredibly beautiful large wooden doors.  Most of them were accented with these gorgeous door knockers.My back is still aching from dragging my big camera around but I am so happy to have captured the knockers in these photos.

Queretaro, Mexico

Funny how a little tequila gets in your system and your eyes look crazy, like mine do above!   Photo taken from my phone in the streets of Queretaro, Mexico last Saturday night.  Wow, what a fun filled trip!  Yes, the poncho came home with me.

But who could pass up yummy drinks that looked like this........

such a fun night spent with such fun girls!!  More photos to come. What a colorful country full of history I am so glad I got the opportunity to explore.  I just returned home from Angela Ritchie's Ace Camp that was held there.
