Can you believe it is almost Easter?? It feels like time just passes by so quickly. I was unpacking some of my Easter decorations and came across my son's first bunny rabbit. I have put it in his Easter basket every year. Except one, the year we moved into our current house he was around nine years old and I could not find the box that the bunny was in. I never really knew if he realized he got the same bunny every year until he was heart broken when the bunny was not in his basket. He is going to be fifteen this year and he will be traveling for the first time alone with his buddy to visit my parents in Michigan. When I came across this bunny yesterday It brought back so many memories of him being a little boy. Everyone always tells you that it goes by so quickly but you never believe it until you look at your children and realize their sweet little feet that you use to love to bite on are now bigger than your husbands and you wouldn't dare but them anywhere near your mouth. My parents are so excited to be able to spend Easter with the boys. My mother told me she has never been able to watch the kids (mine) on Easter morning and she couldn't wait to put together a basket for the boys. My mother always enjoyed making my Easter basket special which is a tradition I have carried on with my kids.
Also spring brings beach weather here in southern California. Yeah!! I remember growing up in Michigan and getting so excited to wear white sandals on Easter Sunday, just to be disappointed to having it be totally cold and muddy outside. There is something magical about Spring time, it is so wonderful to listen to all the new life outside with birdies chirping and flowers budding. It's almost like it is time to dust your self off and start over again with a better attitude.
The bottle above is done by Lynn Whipple. I found this old Victorian shell souvenir in Santa Cruz.
