Today is my big boys fourteenth birthday!!! Seems like just yesterday he was a little curly head blondie who loved to wear his superman cape under all of his cloths just in case there was an emergency. I love him and his spirit!! This post is especially for my parents who were not able to be with us today we missed you celebrating with us!! My girlfriend bought me this wonderful cake pan from William - Sonoma for my birthday and I actually made a homemade cake off of the recipe that is on the box of the pan. It makes a hugo giant cup cake!! It was lip smack-in good if I do say so myself!! We love you big boy!!!
I woke up this morning and had a little conversation with God. I was asking him to send some inspiration my way. I stayed silent for a while and I felt him calling me to the beach and to bring my camera. I know this may sound silly to some people but after taking pictures it reminded my how big God really is. The ocean is a magical place and I like many find so much comfort and peace being in its presence. I thought I would share where I walk regularly in hopes that it might bring some inspiration to someone else. It is amazing how many textures you can find in nature..
Last but not least, my favorite picture. This is my favorite because it is the spot that represents that I am at my half way mark of my walk. It also represents life to me in a funny sort of way. How did all this hard cement with metal in it end up in the middle of this beautiful beach. The color and texture of the oxidized metal deep inside the rough cement laying on top of the soft sand and the beautiful water is like the contrast of life's beauty and its sadness to me.
I love when Target show cases new designer lines. The bummer is they only have a small selection of goodies. A couple of days ago when I went there, they must have just put out some of Anna Sui's new things. I scored on two new tops for fall.
They were both super cute and under $30.00. Later on, I somehow found myself looking online at Free People's clothing line. This faux leopard fur coat caught my eye, it reminded me of the collection of vintage coats that I have. I started collecting them in my early twenties when I lived in Baltimore and Philly where the winters would be freezing. I loved going to resale shops in the early 90's, I scored on some really fun coats. I would always check out the fun shops in San Francisco and in Gerorge town as well.
Remember the 80's when old Granny Jackets and Boots were all the rage. It looks like they are coming back in style this fall! I have enjoyed wearing them throughout the years, whether or not they were in style. I just love them!! I also found some of my old vintage shoes that I just love.
Aren't these shoes wonderful!!
This is a picture of a very cool old motorcycle jacket that my father in law gave to me.
I found this old leather football jacket for my husband for his fortieth birthday last year even though it is a year younger than him. I just love the color of it
Last but not least, I found this great vintage faux fur wrap while I was in Michigan for $15.00 I love the big balls that hang off of both sides. I will definitely be wearing this over the holidays!! So go treasure hunt at your local flea market or antique mall for some vintage treasures to style this fall!!!
I recently took my son to the book store to look for a book for him to read and came across this book.........
It is loaded and I mean loaded with photos of real people across the globe accompanied by the author's insightful commentary. Check out his blog here. It is such a wonderful collection of people's personal fashion across the world. I have very eclectic taste in clothing and I so appreciate viewing how other people put it together. I love individuality!!!
Love her wrap!!
How can you not help but fall in love with Miss Lynn Yeager. What confidence this gal must have. If we could all just be this comfortable in our own skin.
I would like to welcome you to come over and visit my new etsy site,persnickety3.etsy.com that I will be filling with delightful curiosities and treasures. I'll also be stocking vintage jewelry bits and bobs for your own jewelry creations. I have always enjoyed shopping on all of my travels and I am finding that I have a bit more than I need. So I am tearing away from a few of my own specials to share with you. Christmas will be here before you know it so maybe you will find something special for yourself or someone on your list.
I have been playing with some of my favorite things over the last week and making up some new pieces. I will start uploading them on etsy tomorrow. The large vintage relic is like nothing that I have ever seen. One side has an incredible painting of a French lady and the other side is a very ornate vintage relic. The holidays will be fast approaching and I am hoping to help you find a magical piece to wear to dinner parties or special evenings out. I am making both simple and over the top pieces. I love having a couple of amazing necklaces to wear with a black dress when I go out. I hope you find something that you like. I am sorry to have teased you in an earlier post about my upcoming surprise I am hoping to be done with it soon. Blessings to you!
